Self-Exclusion

Most regulated US sportsbooks and many state regulators offer self-exclusion programs that let you voluntarily ban yourself from wagering for a fixed period or for life. We strongly encourage anyone who feels they have lost control to enroll.

  • Contact your sportsbook's "Responsible Gaming" settings to self-exclude on their platform.
  • Enroll with your state's gaming regulator for a statewide self-exclusion list.
  • You can deactivate your The Professor account at any time from Settings.

Deposit & Wagering Limit Recommendations

  • Set a hard monthly entertainment budget — money you can fully afford to lose.
  • Never wager more than 1–3% of your bankroll on a single bet.
  • Use your sportsbook's deposit, wager, time, and loss limits — every regulated book offers them.
  • Never chase losses. A losing day is data, not a reason to increase stake size.
  • Take scheduled breaks. If you bet daily, build in a no-wager day each week.

Bankroll Management Education

Bankroll management is the discipline of treating your wagering funds as a fixed pool and sizing each bet as a small, repeatable percentage of that pool. It is the single largest factor in long-term sustainability — far more important than any individual pick.

  • Unit sizing: 1 unit = 1% of your bankroll. Most disciplined bettors risk 1–2 units per play.
  • Variance is real: Even a profitable strategy will have losing weeks and months.
  • Track everything: Use the in-app history and ROI tools to measure actual performance, not memory.
  • Separate funds: Never wager rent, bills, savings, or borrowed money.

Warning Signs of Problem Gambling

  • Wagering more than you can afford to lose.
  • Chasing losses with larger bets.
  • Lying to family or friends about your wagering.
  • Borrowing money or selling possessions to bet.
  • Feeling restless, irritable, or anxious when not betting.
  • Neglecting work, school, or relationships because of gambling.

If any of these apply to you or someone you know, please call 1-800-GAMBLER immediately.
